Moray & Agnew has strengthened its Newcastle offering with the appointment of three senior lawyers, further expanding the firm’s capabilities across insurance, dispute resolution, estates and private client services.
Daniel Stoddart joins as Partner, while John Deegan and Roslyn Pavey join as Special Counsels. Together they bring extensive experience across complex claims, litigation, government advisory work, wills, estate planning and deceased estates.
Daniel is an experienced insurance litigation lawyer with nearly 30 years’ experience advising insurers and self-insured corporates on complex claims. He specialises in catastrophic injury, indemnity disputes, fraudulent claims, media sensitive claims and complex economic loss litigation. Daniel advises many of Australia’s leading insurers on compulsory third party (CTP), public liability, property damage recovery and section 151Z recovery claims, and has acted in many significant Court of Appeal matters. He is also a respected commentator and sought-after speaker on insurance litigation and claims management.

John has more than a decade of experience conducting complex litigated disputes in the District, Supreme, Federal and appellate courts. His practice spans commercial litigation and dispute resolution, general insurance and professional indemnity. John has advised government entities and regulators on commercial and contractual matters and acted for insurers and professionals in complex construction and professional indemnity disputes.

Roslyn is a highly experienced wills and estates practitioner with extensive expertise in estate planning, probate and estate administration. Roslyn is recognised for delivering practical, client-focused advice on complex personal and financial matters.
