In addition to his expertise in corporate work outs, insolvency and restructuring, Kon has a litigious practice which includes corporate litigation and recovery, and commercial litigation across a range of matters including contractual breaches, tortious duties and equitable remedies in the superior courts. Kon also has international cross-border insolvency experience gained with a major US law firm in London and worked as a senior analyst at ASIC for a number of years.
Kon was rated as Highly Regarded by the IFLR 1000 for his restructuring and insolvency work in the financial services sector and was recognised in the 2026 Edition of Best Lawyers in Australia for Insolvency and Reorganisation Law.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Acting for a Court appointed receiver over trust assets arising from a dispute between trust beneficiaries, involving property valued at in excess of $8 million
- Acting for directors of an ASX listed company on a safe harbour engagement, which was successful restructured and continues to trade
- Acting for a foreign national in relation to an ASIC investigation which included Court orders for the production of his passport to the Federal Court, ASIC examinations and production notices and ultimate return of the passport and authority to leave the jurisdiction; and
- Acting for numerous insolvency practitioners and successfully obtaining freezing orders for protection of assets at risk and recovering misapplied funds for the benefit of creditors.
