Devinda is an experienced insurance litigator that practices in the construction space. He specialises in the Victorian domestic plumbing insurance space and his experience in this area is regularly recognised by industry peers at insurer and tribunal level.


Devinda specialises in insurance law and litigation, with a strong focus on matters involving loss and damage arising in construction industry situations. He consistently operates in complex multi-party matters involving solvent and insolvent entities that may arise either in a pre-litigation scenarios or once proceedings have been commenced.

His practice involves matters largely arising either during the performance of the works or after completion plus construction-related property damage claims. He is also experienced in public liability, property and recoveries claims.

Devinda has developed niche expertise in handling claims connected to the compulsory plumbing insurance scheme in Victoria. His experience in the area of plumbers liability includes acting for several of the insurers involved in that scheme at claim, litigation and / or recovery stages, handling a number of complicated claims involving multiple parties / multiple insurers, advising senior management on issues relating to underwriting and risk as well as developing strategies with senior management for claims handling and recoveries.

Devinda operates in a high intensity environment. Late claim notifications by insureds results in Devinda often needing to prepare complex matters within an exceptionally short period of time. His accessibility and calm fastidious approach enables him to meets the demands of that environment, and provide focussed strategic advice, to the relief of his clients. 


While known as a dogged litigator, Devinda looks to commercial resolutions at all times. Devinda’s reputation of exploring ‘outside the box’ resolutions has saved Devinda’s clients collectively in excess of $2 million in the last year alone.
