Edmund is able to advise on all aspects of the employment life cycle. This includes handling employee misconduct investigations, professional misconduct defence and bullying claims. He has expertise in discrimination issues, workplace and sexual harassment, performance management, discipline and dismissal, adverse action claims and workplace defamation.
Edmund has also defended companies, individuals, and local councils in proceedings related to non-compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act and incidents resulting in employee injuries.
Edmund takes a commercially pragmatic approach to his work and has exceptional communication skills when dealing with clients.
He previously served as the Director of Communications for the Queensland Premier, managing over one hundred communications professionals and providing daily advice to the Premier and Ministers.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Representing a major RSL in defence of a sexual harassment claim by a former employee who was seeking more than $250,000 in damages
- Conducting a legally professionally privileged independent investigation in relation to events leading to Crime Stoppers Australia disaffiliating from Crime Stoppers International in April 2024
- Acting for Tricon Energy who were setting up business in Australia and New Zealand as a part of a purchase agreement to acquire eXsource from Qenos. Responsible for all workplace due diligence and negotiation of contracts with transferring employees
- Representing a school principal in a Crime and Corruption Commission enquiry following allegations of improper influence
- Defending a Work Health and Safety prosecution related to the collapse of a mobile concrete boom at the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing
- Acting in defence of a WHS prosecution involving a chemical reaction incident causing injuries to children during a school Science Week demonstration
- Assisting in defending the Council after a WHS incident resulted in grievous bodily harm to an employee, leading to an enforceable undertaking
- Representing a not-for-profit association at a Coroner’s inquest into a death, preparing and advising on submissions and recommendations
- Acting for a former RMIT DVC in a multi-million-dollar action for adverse action and breach of contract, resulting in a confidential settlement.
