Patrick specialises in commercial litigation, construction disputes, debt recovery and insolvency law. He has worked in private practice and specialist in-house roles in Sydney, London and Newcastle, and offers substantial expertise in advising corporate and government clients on all aspects of commercial and construction disputes, including personal and corporate insolvency matters. Patrick's practice spans formal (including litigation, arbitration, Security of Payment Act (SOPA) and expert determination) and informal dispute resolution. 

Patrick has advised and represented clients in key industries including property, construction & infrastructure, mining, engineering, transport, health, manufacturing and utilities.

He is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.

As a vastly experienced litigator, Patrick’s skills combine legal excellence with achieving practical, strategic and commercial results for his clients.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Patrick successfully acted for a subcontractor in proceedings before the full court of the High Court of Australia and full court of the NSW Court of Appeal dealing with the proper approach of the Supreme Court of NSW to review determinations for non-jurisdictional error of law under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 (NSW). Probuild Constructions (Aust) Pty Ltd v Shade Systems Pty Ltd (2018) 264 CLR 1 was a unanimous result and is arguably the seminal case in this area.
