Karina practices all areas of personal injury, insurance and OH&S. She acts for insurers and government departments in public liability, worker’s claims, statutory recoveries and abuse claims.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

As a senior associate, Karina manages her own litigation portfolio under supervision. She regularly represents clients at mediations and settlement conferences, appears at interlocutory hearings and instructs counsel at County and Supreme Court trials.

Karina undertook a secondment with a Victorian government department from January to June 2023 where she supported the day-to-day management of a range of litigation against the State (including pupil injury claims), liaised with key Departmental personnel including its Legal Division, Principals and Teachers and external lawyers.

Prior to joining Moray & Agnew, Karina worked for plaintiff Counsel and assisted in public liability, occupiers’ liability, Transport Accident Commission, WorkCover and TPD matters.

Karina is known for her diligence and thorough preparation in her management of cases. She adopts a collaborative approach in negotiations and is a results driven practitioner.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Karina’s accomplishments include

  • Prepared for a trial with a six week hearing estimate in under one month of being joined to the proceeding and receiving instructions
  • Appeared at a directions hearing and successfully defended an application to adjourn a trial
  • Instructed Counsel in a WorkSafe prosecution of a national company for an unsafe system of work which seriously injured a labour hire employee with the company avoiding criminal conviction
  • Advised the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing in an infant plaintiff’s claim that alleged unsanitary living conditions resulted in the development of asthma.
