Meet Maureen, one of our Brisbane partners. Maureen has over 15 years’ experience in handling personal injuries and Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims, as well as conducting insurance litigation. This includes significant experience in managing defendant CTP litigation both in Queensland and New South Wales.
Why did you become a lawyer? My entry into the legal profession was the result of not-so-subtle maternal prompting as an uncertain school leaver, more than anything else. In saying this, a life in law has been one of the best decisions I ever made and I am forever glad that I listened to my mother, as my career has been very rewarding and I have had the opportunity to work with, and for, some wonderful people. Why Moray & Agnew? I entered the legal profession as a plaintiff lawyer but quickly realised my analytical nature would serve me better as a defendant lawyer, which resulted in me obtaining defendant CTP insurance work in a boutique Brisbane firm. Having worked with our Queensland managing partner, Michael Garbett, at that firm, I was later extended the opportunity to join him at Moray & Agnew when he joined the firm in 2014. I can again say that taking up that opportunity was one of the other best life decisions I have ever made. What do you enjoy outside work? Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful and ever-patient husband and our two boys, catching up with friends, shopping, exercising and (time-permitting) cooking. Three words that sum you up Resilient, passionate, kind.
