Stanley is a Senior Associate in our Litigation Team. He specialises in medical negligence litigation and has extensive experience in insurance and class action litigation across a range of complex matters.

Experience & expertise

Stanley has previously managed a broad portfolio of general liability, employment disputes, medical indemnity, and property damage claims as a claims handler at the VMIA.

He provides proactive and pragmatic legal advice to public and private healthcare clients on medical negligence claims and coronial investigations, combining legal expertise with a practical understanding of the healthcare sector.

He also has experience working on a significant ongoing class action that has been brought in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Work highlights

Stanley’s experience includes:

  • Assisting a public health service with an application to the Supreme Court of Victoria to transport and cremate the unclaimed body of a deceased patient
  • Appearing on behalf of clients at an informal settlement conferences, including preparing and delivering submissions and advising on strategy with respect to settlement negotiations
  • Instructing Counsel at trial in the County Court of Victoria on behalf of a public health service in a litigated matter involving jury assessment of quantum
  • Preparing letters of advice, chronologies, correspondence and various Court documents in the course of assisting and advising both public and private health clients, with informal and litigated claims
  • Preparing correspondence and court documents and assisting with task coordination in a significant ongoing class action in Victora; and
  • Advising clients in relation to strategy with respect to coronial investigations and instructing Counsel at coronial inquests.
