Maddalena has been an insurance litigation lawyer for more than 20 years. She has a particular interest and expertise in medical negligence / malpractice and health law. Maddalena’s current clients include medical defence organisations, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, private hospitals and medical practices.

Experience & expertise

Maddalena provides advice and acts in matters across all aspects of health law including defending civil claims, disciplinary complaints, hospital inquiries, coronial inquests, Medicare inquiries and employment disputes. She also has experience in advising on policy interpretation and providing indemnity advice to insurers.

Maddalena has been involved in several special inquiries including the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into off protocol prescribing of chemotherapy and a discrete inquiry by the NSW Minister for Health into a department of a Sydney Hospital.

Maddalena provides advice to her clients and runs most of her matters without the assistance of counsel, including attending interlocutory hearings and mediations.

Maddalena regularly presents CLE/CPD for staff, clients and external seminar providers.
