Laura advises and represents insurers in coverage disputes and a broad range of professionals across the financial, construction and property lines of business.

Experience & expertise

Laura has extensive experience in private practice both in Australia and the UK, having represented insurers and banks in professional negligence matters for 10 years.

Laura commenced her career acting for financial institutions in the UK prosecuting claims against solicitors, valuers, brokers and other professionals involved in subprime lending. She now represents both Australian and international insurers and insureds including engineers, architects, surveyors, IT professionals, accountants, financial planners, recruitment consultants, real estate agents and other miscellaneous professionals in a wide range of litigated and non-litigated civil disputes, regulatory proceedings and coronial inquests.

Laura has developed a keen interest in the area of policy coverage and advises and represents insurers in coverage disputes. Laura has also advised insurers on changes to policy wording and conducted market policy reviews for insurers on D&O and management liability policies.

Work highlights

Laura’s major cases include:

  • Acting for a medical recruitment agency in a large quantum claim regarding the screening / credentialing of a medical practitioner
  • Acting for a building surveyor in a large quantum pure economic loss claim arising from fire safety irregularities in a multi-use building in Brisbane
  • Advising a major insurer in their review of policy wording for a Management Liability policy.
