Emma is a Senior Associate in our Compulsory Third Party Team in New South Wales, having been part of the team since 2018.
Experience & expertise
She has robust experience managing catastrophic CTP claims, including claims involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, and serious injury to children. She has substantial experience dealing with the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme, and has assisted insurer clients to seek review of lifetime eligibility decisions.
Insurer clients have entrusted Emma to manage claims involving a breadth of complex liability and indemnity issues, such as disputes concerning the application of the ‘no fault’ accident provisions, potential joint illegal enterprises, and claims involving a wide range of contributory negligence issues.
She also has broad forensic knowledge and experience advising clients in the defence of claims involving false and misleading statements and fraud.
Emma regularly advises insurer clients in relation to Compensation to Relatives claims, and has acted for both motor accident and workers compensation insurers in claims involving dual insurance.
She has acted for insurer clients in multiple jurisdictions, including the NSW Personal Injury Commission, District Courts of New South Wales and Queensland, and Supreme Courts of New South Wales and Victoria.
Work highlights
Some of Emma’s recent highlights include:
- Securing a judgment for her insurer client on day one of a week-long hearing, in a claim involving a dispute about the application of the ‘no fault’ accident provisions in a single vehicle motor accident
- Acting for the successful insurer in QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited v Masri [2025] NSWPIC 645, which involved a claim for economic loss made by a claimant who had a long history of unemployment and unrelated medical illnesses. Damages were assessed as nil
- Achieving the withdrawal of multiple unmeritorious claims involving false and misleading statements, liability and threshold injury issues.
