Ben is an Associate in our Pro Bono Team with almost ten years of experience in the social justice and legal assistance sector.
Experience & expertise
Ben supports the University of Newcastle Legal Centre, providing legal advice to vulnerable clients while supervising law students through their professional placements. He plays a key role in developing students’ practical legal skills, while advancing access to justice for disadvantaged communities. He currently runs the traffic law clinic every week at Newcastle Local Court.
Ben brings extensive experience from senior roles in community legal centres and the Aboriginal Legal Service, where he represented clients in care and protection, family law, domestic violence and criminal matters. He has led Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) duty and traffic clinics across Newcastle and the Central Coast, delivering timely and effective support in urgent situations.
A skilled advocate and passionate mentor, Ben is recognised for his collaborative approach and commitment to culturally safe, trauma‑informed practice. His background with the NSW Police Force and Centrelink further strengthens his expertise in stakeholder engagement, negotiation and practical problem‑solving.
