Penny specialises in conducting insurance and personal injury litigation claims for insurers. With more than 25 years of experience, most of her current practice involves acting on behalf of major insurers in the areas of motor vehicle personal injuries, public liability, industrial diseases and property damage.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Penny has worked in insurance litigation since commencing her legal career in 1995. She is the youngest lawyer to be appointed to the legal panel of the Insurance Commission of Western Australia for CTP insurance. Penny also has extensive experience in the defence of catastrophic personal injury damages claims and has developed particular expertise in assessing claims for damages for dependency arising from fatal accidents.

Penny is renowned for her skilled management of a high volume CTP practice and excellent understanding of her clients’ requirement for efficient and effective claims management. Penny’s extensive negotiation, advocacy and litigation experience boosts her capabilities in efficient claims management and negotiation of appropriate settlements. She appears regularly in the District Court and the Supreme Court of Western Australia at pre-trial conferences and mediation conferences and prides herself on providing accurate, commercial and timely advice to her clients in connection with their claims portfolio. Penny is often called upon to present and chair industry seminars.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Penny pioneered the Insurance Commission of WA’s ‘remote settlement conference’ program and has resolved well over 100 long-tail claims for the Commission in rural and remote communities. 

Penny also has experience acting as counsel at trials in the District Court of Western Australia having appeared as counsel at trial in Perth and in regional areas.
