Jessica practises in the areas of general insurance, personal injuries and public liability. She holds a Masters in Law from the University of Queensland, majoring in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution.

Jessica is an accomplished litigator with considerable experience in general insurance, personal injuries, property damage and public liability. Jessica’s wide-ranging experience in litigation spans over a decade, and includes handling hundreds of claims throughout Queensland and interstate, along with many claims involving different Pacific island states and Asian countries.

During her career, she has acted for major Australian and international insurers, loss adjusters, underwriters and large self-insured corporations. She regularly acts in matters involving the building, mining and infrastructure sectors in both small and large scale personal injuries and property damage disputes. In doing so, she frequently advises on complex indemnity issues arising out of the terms of construction contracts and the various types of policies of insurance that can apply to worksites. In such cases, she is adept in carefully balancing the various commercial considerations in those claims.

Jessica also acts on behalf of both defendants and plaintiffs in connection with a large and diverse group of property damage claims (as subrogated recovery actions) under various legislative schemes involving motor vehicles, fire damage, storm water damage, shopping centres and leagues clubs.

Jessica has also undertaken research on numerous aspects of insurance law, including the impact of a contractual indemnity on the obligation to effect insurance under a contract, dual insurance and exclusion clauses, as well as general liability and quantum matters.

Jessica has a focus on early settlement, and achieving timely and commercial results for her clients. Her clients also value her collaborative approach to matters.
