Emily has broad experience through her involvement in a range of commercial and insurance matters with a focus on professional indemnity, financial lines, director and officer disputes and crime and fidelity matters. She has provided coverage and defence advice for insurers and a range of insured professionals such as company directors, accountants, auditors, financial advisers, real estate agents, and lawyers in state and federal jurisdictions, including commercial, civil and corporate matters.
Emily’s approach to legal work is focused on strategic, timely, commercial advice.
Emily’s major matters include:
- Assisting with representing insurers in actions in federal and state Supreme Courts, including class actions
- Assisting with preparation of the successful defence of a complex claim in which damages of more than $14 million were sought, resulting in a verdict entered in favour of the defendant in the underlying proceedings. Moray & Agnew also successfully resisted an appeal made in the Full Federal Court of Appeal
- Assisting with the representation of an investment manager joined to class action proceedings brought by investors who suffered losses in complex CDO investments due to the Global Financial Crisis, resulting in a 70% costs recovery for insurers
